Empowering Immigrants, One Case at a Time.

Advocating for your Immigration Rights and Interests

As a native Honduran, Diana Trochez is intimately familiar with the struggles and challenges of navigating the U.S. immigration system. As a recipient of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, Diana is deeply committed to helping others facing similar obstacles within the immigration system. She was recently a plaintiff in a petition to the Utah State Supreme Court, which paved the way for undocumented immigrants to be admitted to the bar and practice law in the state of Utah. This landmark case garnered national attention and widespread support from prominent legal organizations and professionals, including the Utah Attorney General’s office, law professors, the American Bar Association, and the American Civil Liberties Union as the community came together to support this cause.

Diana was previously barred in the state of California, but since winning this historic petition, she has gone on to become barred in Utah as well. Armed with her legal expertise and personal experience as a DACA recipient, Diana has dedicated herself to advocating for those in need throughout their immigration journey. She has represented clients facing a wide range of challenges, including advising fellow members of the Hispanic community on legal issues such as removal defense, asylum, family-based immigration, DACA and naturalization. With her unwavering commitment to her clients and her community, Diana is a true advocate for justice and equality.

Background

Despite facing numerous obstacles as a DACA recipient, Diana worked tirelessly to achieve her dream of becoming an attorney. She put herself through law school without access to federal or state financial aid, and initially faced barriers to taking the bar exam in Utah. However, Diana’s unwavering determination and support from her community led her to pass the bar exam in California and subsequently petition the Utah State Supreme Court to allow other undocumented immigrants like herself to take the bar exam in Utah. Her successful petition helped to break down barriers and create new opportunities for future DACA recipients to pursue their legal aspirations and advocate for their communities.
